Re: 50th VA Infantry -> Any info on a Col. Rodgers

I understood the insertion of "[Poage]" into the Official Records version of McCausland's report to reflect editing done by the compilers of the OR to correct a mistake in McCausland's report. I also checked the Index to the OR. There is no entry in Vol. 19 for the Rodgers mentioned in McCausland's report, even under the heading "Rodgers unidentified persons". That suggests to me that the OR editors were correcting an error in the orignial McCausland report. All the Rodgers identified in Vol. 19 by the Index are Union officers or enlisted men. The only evidence I have found of the 50th Virginia serving under an officer not from the regiment was: 1) at Fort Donelson when Lt. Col. Leigh W. Reid, 36th Va., took commmand at some point in the battle on 15 February, when others in the 50th were wounded or injured; and 2)in October 1861 when the 50th Va. was temporarily placed under the command of Col. Gabriel Wharton, 51st Va.
