I believe the archives has a copy of the diary.The excerpt for Cloy'ds Mountain:May 9,1864-Wee was atacked by theenemy in our front.Our skirmishers were deployed out and then advanced on driving the enemy to thare brestworks on the other side of the mountain.Then they comenced to shel us.We advanced on sloly to the foot of the mountain and our regiment halted.Our left was advancing on the enemy.As soon as the left made a charge we was ordered to charge on double quick in front of the enemy's works.Wee was abought to seround them they retreated with haste for about a mile.Thay got reinforced two regiments and thay made a little stand but was compeled to retreat from that place.Thay was about 600 kiled and wounded of the enemy and 300 took prisner.Our loss was saposed to beabout 300 kiled and wounded.Wee got 3 pieces of artilery and other things at this battle.Wee then went to daublins depot and camped for the night.Eight miles this day.
