Joseph J. Batt fits with what I was looking for, being captured in Sept 1862 at South Mountain. I was trying to rule out John T. Batt also being captured at South Mountain since his 12th VA Inf was there Sept 14th 1862. I can't help but wonder if they are not the same person. The prisoner exchange card was questioned and confirmed to be copied correctly. But that was all they had on Joseph J. Batt.
