This is very exciting news. Hopefully it will narrow my search for any documents. Joe Shockler left no written documents I am aware of. What a life he led with a total of 12 children and 2 step-children. Two of those lost in the war.
I am grateful for the information and am definitely interested in the book.

Joe Shocklers step-son, George Thomas, was lost in the war. I believe he may have been in the 10th but I am only beginning the search. There were several George Thomas' in Confederate service so I will have to begin the elimination process.
