Henry,

Rather than Crockett County, I believe you will find Benjamin and Richard C. Hancock were residents of Houston County, the Post Office was Crockett.

Name: Benj Hancock
Age in 1860: 40
Birth Year: abt 1820
Birthplace: Alabama
Home in 1860: Beat 1, Houston County, Texas
Gender: Male
Post Office: Crockett

Household Members:
Name / Age
Benj Hancock 40
Balsora Hancock 35
Rich C Hancock 14
Nancy Hancock 12
Mary Hancock 8
Thos Hancock 5

Benjamin Hancock, age 44, enlisted as a Private Company B, 13th. Texas Cavalry February 22, 1862 at Crockett, Houston County, Texas, discharged by reason of age May 24, 1862.

Benjamin Hancock is noted on this Confederate Indigent Families Index of Houston County, TX. which suggests he was serving in another unit after his discharge from the 13th. Texas Cavalry.
"On November 24, 1863, the Texas Legislature passed a Joint Resolution stating
that the government pledged "support and maintenance of [the soldiers'] families during
their absence from home."

Benjamin and Balsora Hancock are also noted in the Houston County Confederate/Widow's Pension Application index.

This history of the 35th. Texas (Liken's) Cavalry includes data from the pension application of John Hale of Houston County who also is not found in the muster roll of this unit.

Richard C. Hancock moved from Houston County to Tarrant County between the 1900 & 1910 census records.
He applied for a Confederate pension as Richard Clem Hancock.

If the above are the family members you seek, I would suggest ordering their pension records @ http://history-sites.com/research/index.html

Hope this helps,
Mitchell Sanders
