I have a letter to my GGGGrandfather in Collin County from a Wm.J.Boyd dated Peoria,Hill County,May 23,1869.Boyd stated the people are planting a great deal of cotton now in Hill County. Is interesting he says he is making his money back on the BoisDArk seeds he brought down from Collin and that his own fences are coming up fine.Boyd goes on to mention rustlers are a problem now and then driving away beeves that do not belong to them. And they are at times overtaken and hung.

Most likely a fair assesment of Post War Texas.Cotton, cattle and bandits.
