In Response To: Valentine Foland ()

I have been unable to find anything about him except this brief record:

Valentine Foland, Jefferson County, Tenn.

Swore allegiance to the United States and added in long hand:

" . . . . and that I will go immediately North of the Ohio River and not return during the war . . ", dated 13 June 1864 at Louisville, Ky.

Description: dark complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, 5' 7"

M347: Unfiled Papers and Slips Belonging to Confederate Compiled Service Records

...........

This may have been a son who served briefly in my ggrandfather's 43rd Tennessee Infantry. Seems he was discharged for being under the age of conscription. I do not find a later record of service.

Peter V. Foland, age 17, Private, Company G, 43rd Tennessee Infantry, enlisted October 19, 1861 at Mossy Creek, Tenn., appointed Fifer, January 1, 1862, discharged November 1, 1862
