Good find. However, the line from Chattanooga to Virginia never fully returns to Confederate control as the Federals still hold Knoxville from its capture in September 1863 to the end of the war. Longstreet tried to retake it in November and was repulsed. The Confederates never attacked the city again after that and the Federals remained there.

There is a book about Gen. Vaughn's cavalry - former infantrymen conscripted in East TN and sent to fight in Mississippi in the Vicksburg Campaign where the brigade gets smashed at Big Black River Bridge in May 1863. After exchange they are sent to East TN and mounted and serve in John Breckinridge's department rather well. This source might be helpful to you.
