I'm thinking he had been enrolled back home in Sullivan County and was en-route to his command which I believe was
at Shelbyville, Tenn. at the of his capture.

I do not believe he would have been recorded on his companies muster roll which was maintained by the Companies First Sergeant, until he reported to where they were stationed.
