Forces that Forrest met at Jack's Creek included the 1st Alabama Cavalry US Volunteers. William Pell of Lawrence County, the husband of one of my ggg aunts was one of three troopers of the 1st that were killed in that action. He is buried in the Corinth National Cemetery. He enlisted, along with my ggg grandfather, Obediah Stover, his father-in-law, at Huntsville in July, 1862.
