Know about the the Confederate Fort on the end of the Ridge over looking the Big Black River up stream from the Fortress at Grand Gulf.
I have been there in the 1980s i would think.
And yes it is readily recognizable for what it was.
Fort Winkler I think i finally found in the Official Records.

Question. You mentioned Thompson Ridge or Thompson Road,
Which comes out on the Black Top near Ingleside and also at Little Come See MB Church # 2,
(Is this correct,)
A long way back in there, also.
Do you know where the name Thompson came from?????
