Davis Island

Jefferson Davis' Home.
The Missisisppi River has a late June Rise (This one in July and an Agricultural Disaster.)
The Missisisppi River is creeping up at Vicksburg (An inch or two) each day,)
It will (Hopefully) crest about the week end at about 45 feet on the vicksburg Gauge
Davis Island (40,000 acres,) is under water, this inculdes the Jefferson Davis Home Site, the Joe Davis Home Site and the Joe Davis Cemetery (Where Jefferson Davis' brother Joeseph is buried.
In additon the water is against the Levee on the Lousiaina Side and and also completely over Yucatan Island.
On the Missisippi SIde a huge area known as Togo and the Big Black River Flood Plain is under water for many, many miles up stream.
I really do not know, but at least 100,000 acres, may be as much as 200,000 or perhaps even 300,000 acres.
A huge volume of water.
