The Mississippi in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Two Mississippi brothers off to war

I was a little vague. Sorry. I was referring to the brothers - Felix and Henderson Hadsell. They both died here in Belmont Co., OH and Henderson's grave is not far from where I live. We got into a discussion about the two of them today on my Civil War facebook page and someone posted this story of the two Mississippi brothers.
I was wondering if anyone knew why they settled here in Belmont Co. and why Henderson ended up in the pauper cemetery here. Felix became a pretty well respected citizen in Martins Ferry, Belmont Co., OH - he became a clerk and took part in the Decoration Day ceremonies every year. In the 1890s his health was bad and he was forced to give up his clerk position.
I know that at least one of Henderson's daughters married in hamilton Co. - which is where the family was in 1880.
So, again, my question would be - why did these two Mississippi brothers end up in Belmont Co., OH and how did Henderson end up being buried in the paupers cemetery here.
Thanks!!
Kim
