My soldier Elijah J. Reeves enlisted 19 Jul 1862, Summit, Pike Co., MS, in Garland's Batt'n, Co. A., cavalryman. On the 31 Dec to 30 Apr 1863 roll, he is marked AWOL. That is the last service record/card I can find for him.

On his pension applications of 1900 and 1905, Elijah J. Reeves of Pike Co., MS, states he was in the 6th Miss Cav, Co. I, under Col. Powers nd Capt. Bates. He says he finished out the war.

Why can't I find his service records for after 30 Apr 1863? Did the 6th Miss Cav. consolidate with others?
