I recently read that 40% of Union burial locations are known so you know the number is less for Confederates, so I agree, finding any of them truly is special. I am searching for information on approximately 140 men by the name of Wigginton (any spelling) who fought for either side in the war. To date, I have found information stating that 24 of them died during the war. Of those 24, I have found burial locations for 12 so I feel I have beaten the odds.

When it comes to reading old records, I have had to be very creative with the spelling of the Wigginton name. I have also used the term "reasonably comfortable" in being "certain" that a grave is really one of my soldier's grave. I have found two of my soldiers at Hollywood in Richmond VA listed as Higginson and Winting, one in Staunton VA listed as Higgleton, and one in MS shown on his headstone as Wiggerton. Cross-referencing death dates and regiment information had helped me find two of these men. Of course, I am not 100% certain of these but I am reasonable comfortable with that being the case.
