Denise, I too have the information on the Slades and have attempted to get a copy of the Slades of Cheraw, but have been unable to find one in any library in Georgia. I would like a copy of the information from the book along with the cover page so I can properly cite the source. As you are aware we have researched the two samuel Slades on several occasions and my only conclusion is that there were two men from Marion County who served in the 7th Regt. Miss.Inf.; one in Co. F who joined in 1861 and left in 1862, and another who was chosen for the battallion Sharshooters and served until he was discharged after being wounded. Whether his official or not that is what I believe happened. As they say around the camp fire "Nuff said".
