Good to hear from you Jim!

Let me toss this into the mix. Tracking through the census records of children and wife of Milford Sanders/Saunders it appears that his mother, Anne, wife Elizabeth, and son Martin are all still at Barnesville, Reynolds county MO in 1870. These all track through from 1850 in Arkansas, to 1860 in Reynolds county. I can not find him after the 1860 census. I bring this up because if MHS died in 1879 I would expect to find him back home in Reynolds county by 1870. Now he may have been persona non-grata still but I would think he would still be tied back to wife, son, and mother. So maybe his 1866 death at Farley is not too far off the mark. RDK can you elucidate the story?

His brothers, James, Pinkney, and Sampson all served during the war and all appear in the 1870 census lists back in Reynolds County. Soft but an indicator that a pre 1870 death is possible if not probable.
