Re: Battle of Wilson's Creek MSG Fifth Division

Thanks for the help. Gideon Roberts and P. Adkins were from Fifth Division counties - the counties you would expect for the Fifth Division. It's puzzling that some of the other men listed in Company C First Battalion/Regt Fifth Division in the hospital registers are from Taney County, Phelps County, Pulaski County, and Dent County. These men were listed with illnesses, not battle wounds, but they were in Springfield immediately after the battle.

F. M. Manes is from Pulaski County. He was my initial interest in this information and why I assumed that this Company was in the Sixth Division. After G.O. 107 in 1864, he joined the 48th Regt. Infantry Vols. at Waynesville and was appointed as Corporal. His Union service is listed on both the nps and sos websites.

I haven't found any family connection to George's Lt. Col. Thomas Thurman, but a Physician for the Fifth Division, First Cavalry was E. J. Thurman from Versailles, Missouri - Morgan County.

Someone with much deeper knowledge of the MSG then I have might understand it.
