Jim thanks for the response The incident occur on September 7th 1862 near Hawkins Island on the St. Francis River, near the area of Clarkston, MO. In my research I have been un-able to locate Hawkins Island, which was name after a local family. The father Hawkins was described as a "independent" (Guerilla) and was capture by the part of the scouting force De Golyer was with.
