Keith,

This guy has been a mystery to me, too. If you find anything, please let me know, also. I tried to find something on his military record and those of his two sons John and William without success, even with both spellings "Eades" and "Eads." All I have on him is his capture 19 Dec 1861 at Blackwater with about 1,500 others, and his death near Syracuse at the hands of Captain Box's patrol of 7th Cavalry MSM on 5 October 1863.

The 1860 census record for him is in Boonville Township of north-central Cooper County, household number 522. He is listed as P. H. Eades, age 48, born KY, moderately wealthy, wife Nora, age 30, born Pennsylvania; oldest sons: John T.? age 20 and William H. age 18, both born in KY. As for the rest of the Eades children all those age 16 down to age 8 were born in KY, and those five years old or younger were born in Missouri. The 1870 census appears to have his son John married with a family and living in LaMine Township of northwest Cooper County.
