According to Miss Buckley's web site David G Simpson married Malissa Gooden in Oregon County Mo.. There is a Gooden and a Goodwin listed on the roster of Fristoe's Company G, Webster. D.G. lived through the war and went back to Tennessee. Sometimes family does make a difference. This is still just circumstantial evidence but if you get enough you can convict somebody.
