The Pvt. J.A. Simpson in Co "I" 16th Mo. Inf. has one CMSR card, with the name listed as Jas A. (James?) Simpson residence Henry County.
Enlisted Aug 20,1862 at Henry, Co. Mo. in Acting Capt E. Allison's Company of Independent Cavalry, which became Co I of Jackman's Mo. Inf. then Co I 7th Mo. Inf. and finally Co I 16th Mo. Inf.
Paroled June 9, 1865 at Monroe, La.
