In the 1860 Census, when he lived in the Westport P.O. district, before the war, James Barnes Yager was worth $11,200 in real estate and $8000 in personal property. That is a sizable chunk for 1860!

Just ten years later, in 1870, after Jennison and the War, there remains just he and his wife. There is NO real estate and the Personal Estate is merely $500.00.
