While I can't answer your question, I have a Fred Botts of Jackson County that married some of my kin. She is buried in the Lobb Cemetery in Jackson County...
Judge James Barnes Yager was sent to Gratiot and also charged $1,000.00 Bond. Suspected of being a member of the Knights of the Golden Circle he was brought before the Provost Marshal. He said the only organization he belonged to was the Masonic Order and had been a member for 33 years. He was released and returned to Westport where he lived the remainder of the war.
