When General Banks retreat from Alexandria is haulted after Egg Bend,La of today, because of bridge(s) being constructed, is this being done at the series of rivers before and after 5th Ward,La. of today, or is this being done closer to Red River ?
From Egg Bend, La. (today) did Banks forces follow Red River to Ft. Derussy and build bridges as they went thus keeping the protection of his navy, or, did they follow Hwy. 1 of today and build bridges as they went enroute to Ft. Derussy-Marksville ?
There was a lot of time lost at Choctaw Bridge's construction and my map show Choctaw Bayou as being in both places.
In short I need to know Gen. Banks exact route from Egg Bend,La. to Ft. Derussy- where they marched, bridges were built.
