Mouton also mentioned that "the enemy approached our line of battle at 9 a.m. near the road leading to the settlement called Texas in Assumption"...
Not being from this part of the state, I've noticed that in many reports concerning the area there are regions named such as, Brule Little Texas, Brule Texas, Brule Landry, Brule McCall...Where would these settlements (presuming they are settlements) be located today ?
What road ( in todays period) does Mouton mention ?
The term Brule in cajun french means burn. Does the term carry the same significance in the naming of these regions ? (Landry / McCall obviously family names)
Labedieville's battle aka :Texana. Why was there so much Texas influence to this part of our state before 1862 ?
It's a lot of questions I know...but my philosophy is "stay curious".
