Sir

As to Crump's Corners, I believe it is between 1-2 miles west of Marthaville (Natchitoches Parish) on what is now LA Rte. 120. As you probably know, Marthaville did not exist as such in 1864. Crump's Corners was the 1864 location of the a local township which apparently was relocated east to Marthaville's present location at some point after the Civil War. I think it is possible, and will try to confirm, that Crump's Corners was at the location of Crump's Hill, just west of Marthaville (1.5 miles). From Crump's Corners a road angled northwesterly toward Pleasant Hill. In 1864 Pleasant Hill was in De Soto Parish, although it is now in Sabine Parish.

The road from Marthaville (approximately denoted by the residence/farm of the Rains family), though the area of Crump's Corners to Pleasant Hill, can be seen on two CW era maps from the National Archives Z33 series, which are part of Record Group 77. The Z33 series are listed as being captured Confederate maps. The maps of interest are as follows:

1) NARA RG77 Z33-43 (Western Natchitoches Parish) - Just west of the Rains property there is a crossroads with a northwesterly turn toward Pleasant Hill and a road that appears to run WSW to the current location of Belmont, LA. I obtained a copy at the Northwestern Louisiana State University Archives (NSU-LA #1365) through the excellent services of the archivist, Mary Linn Wernet.

2) NARA RG77 Z33-43 (SE De Soto Parish) - This map contains a closer, more detailed view of the road from the Rain's property in Natchitoches Parish, to Pleasant Hill in De Soto Parish (NSU-LA # 1371). This map also shows a more NW run that may coincide with what is now Boline Road, that runs through Dobs Crossing to Pleasant Hill.

Crump's Corners, however, is not listed on either map, but there is the outline of a farm at the "corner" that may be the Crump place.

Another source you may try is Prof. Gary Joiner at LSU-Shreveport. In his 2006 book "Through the Howling Wilderness: The 1864 Red River Campaign and Union Failure in the West (page 75)," he provides a map that shows Crump's Corners, with a road leading in a northwesterly direction to Pleasant Hill.

If I find more definitive information about the coincidence of Crump's Hill and Crump's Corners. I will send another reply. Hope this helps.
