From Crump's Corner, with General Banks pressed for time because of the loaned army from Vicksburg, it didn't make any sense that Gen. Franklin would direct his marching order to Bellemont,La.. Maps of 1864 / 1895 were showing a direct route from Crumps Corner - Pleasant Hill, but not enough landmarks were shown on these 1864 / 1895 maps that could place this road in a retrospective location of today. Now we know, there was one ! General Franklin stated when the army departed from the Red River that at the end of the first day's march they would camp near Double Bridge, 15 miles from Grand Ecore. Again, some of these old maps show New Spanish Town and Double Bridge, but, again not enough information exist on the surrounding landmarks on the old maps to pin pointed their exact locations on today's modern maps. I really thank you for all the help concerning Crump's Corner / Hill...Can you please assist me on Double Bridge / New Spanish Town. My interest in this era...Demonsthene Nunez,c.s.a. 33rd Inf.
