I have an envelope franked with CSA stamps from Marshall TX (Trans-Mississippi HQs in TX) addressed to Gen Herron in Shreveport dated Jun 7, 1865....I was trying to get a handle on the timeline. Dr. James H. Starr was the Agent in charge of the Dept. in Marshall and was writing Herron as early as May 25 (according to his biography) discussing the appropriate way to "turn over the Dept." in TX.
