I have compiled a roster of the 2nd LA Cavalry-CSA from all available sources I can find (Booth, NPS-CWCC, NARA-CSR, diaries, letters, Journal articles, etc, etc) and Jehu or John Axley was not in the 2nd CL-CSA. There is a John Oxley/Oxly in Co E of the 2nd LC-CSA, but he is likely a different person. On a quick scan of the materials available to me, I find only the mentions in the NPS-CWSS of John Axley and Jehu Axley in the Union 1st and 2nd LA Cav (US).

I will look in a couple of other places to see if I can find any info on J. Axley.
