Yes being a POW at that time I cannot imagine. John writes, after his imprisonment, as I,m sure letters and such were somewhat censored, about if the prisoners were "rowdy" after lights out that a .58 cal round was fired thru the barracks to settle them down. The main thing he speaks to though was the cold and such things as mid-nite roll calls in the snow that lasted for hours. Even being from south central KY where they have snow once in a while he claimed there could be "no colder place that God ever designed".
