Union Indian Brigade (Britton)

pp. 286-87; - Cloud's Brigade started to the IT. At this time it consisted of the 1st AR Infantry, 2nd KS Cavalry, and two sections of Rabb's 2nd IN Battery. The 6th MO St Militia Cavalry Regiment and a battalion from the 8th MO State Militia Cavalry Regiment were to join him.

p. 296; The 6th MO St Militia Cavalry returned to SW MO after the capture of Fort Smith.

The Prairie was on Fire (Edwards)

Chapter 7 p.77; two citations from Supplemental OR concerning the 8th MO St Militia Cavalry Regiment participating in the campaign. The entry from Capt. Jacob Cassairt implies that they were at Devils Backbone.

p. 78; Cloud sends the 6th and 8th MO St Militia Cavalry back to MO.

OR Dispatches

A few of these dispatches place Major Eno and the 8th MO St Militia Cavalry on campaign back in MO shortly after the capture of Fort Smith.
