The following appears in the Shreveport Daily News
of Sept. 13, 1861;
"We understand that the accomplished Miss Lizzie
Dickson, will present a flag to, Capt. Turner's company,
of Bossier, at Bellevue, on the 24th instant. This will be
a rich treat to all who can avail themselves of the
opportunity of attending the presentation."

Another reproduction of the speech appears in the Sept. 29, 1921
edition of the Bossier Banner. That article indicates that the
original speech was published on Sept. 28, 1861.
