Dubbs' book is really good on this fight.

The Custer Collection in Monroe, Michigan, his boyhood home town, has a copy of the letter and that copy is cited in one of the books on Custer (Wert's I think). His house is still there where the stuff is housed I believe. I saw it back in the early 90s. Big statue of him in downtown Monroe too.

I don't know people in either place either but then again there is email asking for a copy that can be done. I will check into this.
