CS flags captured at Williamsburg and Yorktown

Hello,

I am working up a listing of CS flags that was taken at Williamsburg (mainly) and Yorktown in Virginia in 1862 on the first stages of the Peninsula Campaign.

Before I publish what I have found - and it will include a unique CS flag in private hands (the descendants of a 70th New York Infantry soldier who captured one and later got the Medal of Honor for it) as well as showing the correct flag that Lt. George Custer took (it was NOT the 5th NC's flag as claimed incorrectly in several books) - I would love to see what you all might have.

A few years ago someone posted that the 7th Virginia lost a flag at Williamsburg but when asked for the source did not respond. Hopefully he will this time out.

I also have Berdan's Sharpshooters taking a CS flag at Yorktown but do not know that ID.

Let's hash this one out and see what we can come up with for us all.

Thanks in advance,

Greg Biggs
