The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: 10th Arkansas Militia---Breakdown

QUESTION: So is this the 10th Arkansas that the Guthrie boys out of
White County joined up with? The older brother Joseph had joined
the 35th, CSA, deserted and then was in the 4th Arkansas, US.
The youngest was known as Owen, his middle name, and was shot and wounded
at Shiloh, but died after the battle, and God is the only one who knows where
he was laid to rest.
There were two other brothers, one was captured at Natchez and died in
a Yankee Prison, somewhere, and what the other did, is unknown, but he
survived the war. Most had been born in South Carolina.
The Guthries entered Arkansas with the Prices and all of their kin when they floated
in on the White River in 1836, after a year's lay over in Alabama.
Thanks!
