Mark -- One thing I noticed, although I haven't made an in-depth study of it, is that in some cases a man's property laid on either side of the county line, so that they were enumerated in the 1860 census of one county, but were assigned to the militia of the adjoining county. It would make an interesting study to determine what criteria was used in such a militia assignment.
