Doyle,

If you have a copy of Silas Turnbo's "History of the 27th Arkansas Infantry" he explains that the 27th and 33rd had never had the opportunity to vote for their officers and that oversight was corrected at Camp Bragg.

An interesting note is that one of the organizational camps of these two regiments was on Polk Bayou near Batesville in 1862 and this was also named Camp Bragg. In addition to this the 1861-2 winter camp of the First Arkansas Mounted Infantry at Spadra near Clarksville was another Camp Bragg and there may have been others in Arkansas that I'm unaware of.

In reguards to your question about the camp being used after the winter of 1863-4, here's a note from the O.R.'s that will help with that: HEADQUARTERS CHURCHILL'S DIVISION, No. 56. Camp Bragg, October 12, 1864. I. The division will move to Camden tomorrow morning at sunrise...

Bryan, Fort Pleasants (Weightman, Days Bluff) is on the first high ground four miles north of Pine Bluff overlooking an old river lake that was the Arkansas River during the War.
