It also sets right that it was a depot type of camp use.

It is my understanding that the 33rd Arkansas left Camp White Sulphur Springs in Oct of 1862 under orders to join the command of Col R.G. Shavers who had commanded the Camp at White Sulphur Spring where the 33rd was ordered to undergo their training directed by Shavers. I am not quite sure just exactly when or were the 27th (Shaler's) and the 38th Ark. joined with Shavers and Shaler was replaced by Shavers. But I would believe that Shaver's would have had seniority over Shaler due to date of rank, because Shaver had left Arkansas as a Colonel of the 7th Arkansas in 1861.

While Shaler did not begin to organized the 27th Ark from scattered Cavalry companies until May of 1862 If I am correct. Shaler had Missouri connections but I don't know if that would have had weight commanding an Arkansas Brigade, Where as Shavers had commanded a brigade at Shiloh. Why Shavers was never Officially promoted to the rank of General would be a very good question. My understanding is that Regimental commanders were elected, and that Brigade commanders were appointed by higher headquarters.
