Re: William Davis 4th Arkansas Cav

My William Davis' family lived in Yell County (Dardanelle vicinity) between 1860 - 1880. William was born in TN between 1825- 1828 which fits the man in Co. M, 4th Cav. I have a marriage record for William Davis and Elizabeth Bennett from McMinn County, TN in 1854. The record pops up on ancestry.com as Meigs County, but if you look at the actual record, it says McMinn County for their entry. At this point, I'm going with them as my GG grandparents (unless something shows that that is not them). He homesteaded some land in Yell County and I purchased those records from NARA hoping they might give a middle name, etc., but no luck there. I often say I wish his parents had named him Poindexter because there are so many men named William Davis in that area! Again, thank you all for the help. Allen
