Re: Units in the 3rd Confederate Regiment...?

Yes, sir, the 3rd Confederate Infantry served right up to the bitter end. Bentonville was their last major engagement. Being a predominately Arkansas regiment, it was consolidated with the remnants of the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 19th and 24th Arkansas Regiments to form the 1st Arkansas Consolidated Infantry Regiment. The reorganization took place at Smithfield, North Carolina, on April 9, 1865.

If you're interested, here is the breakdown of how the remnants of those regiments were distributed in the new consolidated regiment --

Co. A--1st Arkansas Infantry.
Co. B--2nd Arkansas Infantry.
Co. C--5th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. D--6th & 7th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. E--8th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. F--24th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. G--13th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. H--15th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. I--19th Arkansas Infantry.
Co. K--3rd Confederate Infantry.

Following the surrender of the Army of Tennessee on April 26, 1865, the 1st Arkansas Consolidated Infantry was paroled at Jamestown, North Carolina, on May 1, 1865.
