Re: Samuel P. Reed Co. G. 5th Ark

Samuel P. Reed is recorded on August 31, 1863*, at Chickamauga, Tenn., as "Present, sick," the following muster at Birds Mill, Tenn., dated October 31, 1863** notes: "Absent, sick, sent to Hospital, Marietta, Ga.," on February 29, 1964, near Dalton, Ga., he was recorded present. There is no amplifying information in his CSRs identifying his illness.

There is a register of patients of the Foard Hospital, Marietta, including a general register, Oct.-Nov. 1863 in the S. H. Stout collection with the Texas Archives at the University of Texas Library.

Marched from Elk River?, Tennessee to Nashville Station, Tenn. Started on the 2nd day of July, and arrived at Wahasttie*** Station on the 7th day of July. Thence to Chickamauga Station on the 10th of July

The Company was in the Battle of Chickamauga, fought both days during the The fight through the 19th & 20th Sept. 1863. Also in the skirmish of the 18th of Sept., first day of the Battle
