Samuel P. Reed, Private Co. G 5th regiment Ark infantry. This was my GGG Grnadfather. His last name was actually spelled Reid not Reed but some records have it spelled wrong. I have a copy of a widows pension form but it has very little information on it.It lists him as enlisted June 10. 1861 and discharged May 15, 1865.It says he enlisted in Brownsville, Ark. This all the information I have found. I would like to know where the unit went and what battles they fought in. I have always wondered why he would have enlisted in Brownsville? The only Brownsville I found on the map was way up in the NW part of the state. It is my understanding that he was born in Texas and live in the SW part of Arkansas. I know he died on May 12th 1912 in Titus county Texas. Any information would be appreciated.... Larry
