Thanks George, I actually found after I posted, his name on a Veterans Pension list (it said 1907, but must have been around 1900) in Cullman, which stated he was 52 and was a Pvt, in Bell's Brigade, from Mississippi, I have been researching since to see if this is him?
What was Gilberts Company? Did they recruit in what was then Blount Co right before the end of the War, I ask this, because his cousin Enoch A. Smith, who was in the 19th Al Inf, in his pension app, states after he was wounded at Chickimauga, then he served in Forrest Cavalry at the end of the War, he doesn't state which cav. unit he was with? Did Gilberts Scouts consist of Young and Older men and wounded recovering Veterans?
