I would believe he was conscripted into the service on reaching the age of 17 in 1864. The last surviving muster rolls for the companies of the 19th Alabama are for the period January/February, 1864. Thus, it is no mystery why we do not find a service record for him.

I have no knowlede of the other units to which his pension records refer.
