Mr. Alan, yes you are correct the town on Bean Station is at the bottom of Lale Cherokee, however, the Yankee breastsworks and the cemetery that were part of the battle are above the lake. When the lake is down, the breastsworks, located on a knoll is accessable, when the lake is up, it is an island. The cemetery, is located about 200-300 yards away above the shoreline of the lake. 40 unknown Confederate soldiers are laid to rest there.
