Re: Patterson's 5th Alabama Cavalry

Thanks again for the tip on where to look. I have found it to be as you said---little info on the Fifth---My great grandfather (James Dennis Lindsey--shown as J D on his widows application) --- was in the 5th and also the 4th according to his widows app for pension. The pension app was filed well after 1900(many years after the war so one could be suspect of info provided) and was processed on the affidavit of three men who served with him--He died in 1883 at a young age.Widows application(Mrs.M W Lindsey) said he was in Co B 4th Ala Cavalry,Johnsons Regiment, until he was made a Lieutenant of Capt. Sam Clarks Company, 5th Ala Cavalry, Pattersons Regiment and surrendered at Danville Ala in May 1865. I have never found any records to substantiate this info.
