Caves in AL used in Civil War
Sat Jun 9 13:59:05 2001
Looking for information about any caves in Alabama used during the Civil War to store and repair guns. My ancestor William Green May was a gunsmith and mustered into service in AL. They hid in caves and repaired these guns. He later migrated to Simpson Co., MS. He lost some of his eyesight from having to work in the darkness of the caves. I do not know his company or any military history. Any help with William Green May and his brother Peterson May would be appreciated.
