I may be shot for treason if this board is for the confederate army only,but like my grgrgrandfather Wm.Franklin Battles,I will be bold.Frank was a survivor
of both the Cahaba prison camp and the explosion of the
Sultana,my question is..I have been told recently that
Frank and his brother James Monroe were originaly in the Confederate army but joined the 3rd Tennessee calvary after confeds ran his (bro?cousin)Thomas Battles down and killed him for not joining up on either side on the side of Chandler mt.is there any way
to verify that they were in the confederate army first?
oops!3rd Tenn.Calvary was union.
