Hugh RicksFairgrounds HospitalSun Mar 4 10:30:28 2001 Thanks for your response, Art. Since there were not likely to be two or more hospitals with that name, you are probably right about the hospital being located in Atlanta.I have not studied the history or movements of the 43rd, but have been under the impression that they were in eastern TN in the winter of '62. I realize that it would not be unlikely for a sick soldier in eastern TN to be transported to Atlanta for treatment, but why would a dead soldier be removed from Atlanta to Knoxville for burial? You might then, ask why a soldier who died at Chattanooga, be taken to Knoxville for burial. Still puzzled.Movement of wounded Confederate South J. Hugh LeBaron, Tue Mar 6 12:41 Fairgrounds Hospital Alan J. Pitts, Mon Mar 5 13:14 Fairgrounds Hospital No.2 Barry N.
